Extending the sunset on Oregon’s Enterprise Zone Program was a key priority for economic developers and local governments across Oregon. The program allows local governments to provide property tax exemptions for qualifying companies and is seen as a key part of the local economic development toolbox.
The vote was 57-0, with 3 members excused.
Representatives Conger and Komp carried the bill. Representative Matt Wand responded that the program was crucial to landing the Troutdale FedEx facility. Rep. McLane spoke in support of the bill and highlighted the importance of it to the Facebook recruitment in Prineville.
The Oregon Economic Development Association (OEDA), the trade group for economic developers, and the Association of Oregon Counties and business groups have been leading the charge for the extension. The bill now moves on to the Senate.
