The annual Oregon Leadership Summit has released it preliminary agenda and its list of speakers.
Not surprisingly, Gov.-elect John Kitzhaber is the keynote speaker at the annual event. He plans to address the state’s economic and fiscal crisis and will discuss the role of the Oregon Business Plan in the state’s recovery efforts.
The theme of the summit, which has been held annually since 2002 except for last year, is “Not Business as Usual.” Critical issues the summit will address include:
• The need to redesign the way Oregon budgets for and delivers key public services in the face of a permanent fiscal crisis.
• Improving the conditions for private sector job growth.
• The need to adjust the tax system to improve the stability of public revenues and incentives for economic growth.
Besides Kitzhaber, other speakers include Lenny Mendonca, director, firm knowledge, at McKinsey & Co.; Author David Osborne, who wrote “Reinventing Government” and “The Price of Government;” and Pat Reiten, president of Portland’s Pacific Power and chairman of the Oregon Business Plan Steering Committee.
The event runs from 7:30 a.m. until 5 p.m. Dec. 13 at the Oregon Convention Center. Cost to attend is $150. Statewide elected officials and legislators can register free of charge. Students can register for $50.
