The Oregon Legislature did its job. Despite the uncertain economy, lawmakers acted with unusual speed — at least by legislative standards — to approve a state school budget for the next two years.
The Senate had passed the two budget bills Tuesday on 30-0 votes, and the House acted Wednesday. The main, controversial budget passed the House 32-28, and a second bill to use $100 million from an education reserve passed 58-2. Read more at the Statesman Journal
