The Oregon Business Plan calls for a strong state reserve fund. Policymakers have the opportunity to make that happen this year with a series of bills proposed by Senators Frank Morse (R) Albany and Ginny Burdick (D) Portland. The Oregonian Editorial Board made the case this weekend.

The Governor's proposal for a new Education Investment Board aligns closely with the recommendations included in the 2011 Oregon Business Plan. The proposal will have its first hearing in the Senate Education and Workforce Development Committee hearing at 1pm on Tuesday, April 5.

Two initiatives on the Oregon Business Plan's "top ten" list for job and income growth was streamlining permitting processes and improving the availability of quality industrial land. This week, two bills that accomplish these objectives are up for a second hearing in Senator Lee Beyer's Business, Transportation and Economic Development Committee.
