Senate Committee Passes Stability Package

The Senate Committee on Revenue passed a package of bills to stabilize the state’s volatile revenue system and spark investment by lowering Oregon’s nation-leading capital gain taxes.  Read more here or check out the Oregonian Editorial on the package here.

Senators Frank Morse and Ginny Burdick led the charge to develop the package.  Senator Chris Telfer, who was a co-sponsor of the bills, voted to move the package to the Senate floor.  Over the weekend, Senator Telfer expressed serious doubts in the Bend Bulletin about its ability to actually get enough votes in the full legislature.
